Fly GT Classics Rules and Regulations
Thursday June 24, 2010

Hello Racers:

After many sleepless nights, arguments and fist fights, ok I'm exaggerating; we have a set of rules for the upcoming Winter Season.  We are going to try something a little different.  We are going to run Class A and Class B races like before but with a little twist.  Some racers want to go faster; some want more modifications to the cars and others want to just drop the car on the track and go.  With that in mind, if you are racing in Class A you will use the Slot.it 21.5K orange end bell motor.  Class B racers will use the stock Fly motor.  You will have to make a decision which class you want to run for the season and stick with it.  The remainder of the rules applies to both classes. Without further delay here they are:

Eligible Cars:

  • Ferrari 512S- Any version made, long tail (coda lunga), short tail, and spyder.  Even the Playboy versions if so desired
  • Lola T70
  • Chevron B19
  • Chevron B20
  • Porsche 908, 908/2, 908/3 and 908 Flunder
  • Porsche 917K, 917LH (long tail), 917 Spyder.  917-10 Can Am car is not allowed.
  • Ford GT-40
  • Ferrari 250LM kit
Any other Fly Classic car with the motor pod similar to the ones listed above, subject to prior approval.

Modifications Allowed:
Minor blue-printing of the chassis and body is ok.  This is considered light sanding for clearance issues.  Stock motor pods are required.  No cutting of the chassis is allowed.

Gear ratio and gear brand is open.

Bushings are open.

No magnets of any kind (except in the motor for you smart alecks and you know who you are)

Stock wheels or aluminum wheels are optional as long as they are sized close to the original Fly wheels with proper inserts for the car being used.  No F-1 sized wheels for the rear and no o-ring tires/wheels for the front.  Use appropriate front tires for the wheels being used.  (Subject to tech approval)

Spec rear tire- IndyGrip 3003 to fit Fly Classic or appropriate IndyGrip tire for rear wheel in use.  (Subject to tech approval)

Stub axles can be converted to straight axles or bushing the stub axles with brass is allowed.

Any brand of axle is allowed.

Lead or brass weights are allowed.

General Specifications:

Tires/wheels must be flush with side of body. (Subject to tech approval)

No exposed weights.  All weights must be inside chassis/body.

No min/max weight limit.

Any guide flag that does not require extensive chassis modification (i.e. Slot.it for stock guide is ok.)

Any brand of braid and lead wire.

.040 minimum ground clearance.

Cars must retain all stock interior and glass.

Motors:

Fly or Scalextric 18K stock black stripe motor.  One exception is the black end bell motor in the Ferrari 250LM.  Some motors apparently do not have a black stripe from the factory; this is ok as long as it is not found to be excessively fast.  It is permissible to cut off excess motor shaft for clearance issues.

OR Slot.it 21.5K orange end bell motor.  It is permissible to cut off excess motor shaft for clearance issues.
